Druskininkai

The house is 7-15 minutes away from Druskininkai (depending on how fast you drive!). During the last few years, Druskininkai has changed significantly - it has become a European-class resort, full of medicinal spas and entertainment facilities. Of course it maintained its fresh and healthy air and peacefulness induced by the greenness of pine trees.

The recreational benefits, which you can endure by visiting Druskininkai are no longer debated. The town has a track record of being recognized for this:

  • On 20 June 1794, the King of Poland and the Great Duke of Lithuania Stanisław August Poniatowski has granted to Druskininkai a title of a wellness resort
  • In 1837, Professor of Vilniaus University - Ignacy Fonberg - has analyzed and made public the chemical contents of the mineral waters of Druskininkai springs. As a result of this, the emperor Nicholas I of Russia has approved a project for setting up Druskininkai resort

Now Druskininkai year-round offers mineral baths, mud and climate therapies. According to your own taste and preferences, you can select the most suitable form of recreation for your body and spirit. The menu is broad, you can select from: herbal, bubble, honey and other baths, massages, krio- and magnet therapy, various health care, beauty and weight loss packages offered by individual establishments in the resort. Currently, Druskininkai hosts an Aquapark, several medical and wellness spas (probably around 6 or 7), many restaurants and bars.

Besides all the other places to be visited in Druskininkai, "Forest Museum" is a clear exception. It is located at the address: M. K. Čiurlionio g. 116. The museum contains beautiful wood work - wooden sculptures and compositions - and representative elements of history of forest management. Website of the museum is available only in Lithuanian, however, by visiting it from the photos displayed you can get a good overview of what is there.

Otherwise, the website of Druskininkai town is very informative. You can find here information on all other museums and entertainment places located in the town. Here you will also find contact information of travel agencies or Druskininkai guides association, which you can approach if you would like some help in planning your activities, while in the area.
